Abstract

The research area of this work is the application of blockchain technologies in tracking the authenticity of organic food. This paper discusses the influence of blockchain technology as one of the modern technologies and how it can change supply chain management. In the theoretical part of the work, the concept of supply chain management in the food industry will be explained, focusing on analysing the possible application of blockchain technology. The possibilities will be looked at in detail with applications of blockchain technologies to trace the authenticity of the food. The main goal of the research is to propose an intelligent system for tracking the origin of organic food, such as coffee, based on blockchain technology. The practical part of the paper will present the traceability of organic coffee origin by developing smart contracts. Smart contracts will be developed using PyTeal programming language and Algorand blockchain platform.
