Digital Transformation in Export-Import Banking: A Literature Review

This literature review integrates recent scholarly findings on the incorporation of digital tools into export-import banking. The studies discussed indicate the transformative role these tools can play in enhancing transparency, security, efficiency, and trust in trade operations. Core applications include smart contracts, decentralized data management, and paperless documentation, all of which streamline processes, prevent fraud, and reduce transaction costs. The literature also covers challenges like regulatory uncertainty, scalability, and integration with the current financial infrastructures. By mapping thematic contributions from more than 70 scholarly sources, this review skims a structured overview of the impact of blockchain on digital trade finance, identifies current limitations, and provides outlines of future directions for research.
